Be The Light Rescue focuses on improving the lives of animals through prevention, support, and responsible placement. By stepping in early, working alongside owners, and creating safer environments, the mission is to reduce neglect and create real, lasting change for animals in our communities.

The Founder's Story

Neely is the founder of Be The Light Rescue, a nonprofit driven by a clear and powerful mission: to end animal neglect and suffering.


Her “why” is deeply rooted in the way she was raised. From a young age, Neely’s parents would stop for animals in need; dogs, cats, and anything left on the side of the road and bring them home to their farm. She didn’t just witness care; she lived it. She learned early what it meant to protect, nurture, and take responsibility. Animals were cherished, not chained.


Be The Light Rescue was built from that conflict between what should be and what is.


Neely’s vision is not just to rescue animals, but to eliminate the need for rescue altogether. Her goal is simple, but bold: a future where shelters are empty, where animals are not neglected, and where there is no need to transport dogs across the country to find them safety.


Until that day comes, she continues the work, creating change through prevention, protection, and placement committed to being the light in places where it is needed most.
